Kitten and puppy season happens every spring through summer, when shelters see an influx of tiny arrivals. Help us donate life-saving formula so these vulnerable kittens and puppies can grow strong and healthy.

A kitten or puppy that arrives at a shelter without their mother faces a very low chance of survival. These orphaned animals rely on formula and the close care of shelter workers to make it through the first critical days.

Sadly, many shelters are underfunded and unable to provide enough formula, bottles, and necessary supplies to go around. Around 1.5 million kittens enter shelters every year* and according to Shelter Animals Count 840,000+ puppies were handed over to a shelter in 2024.

Gusty

This four-week-old kitten was found in critical condition on a construction site. Gusty was rescued just in time and brought to Friends of the Metro Animal Shelters for emergency care and formula. Thanks to your donations, he was immediately started on KMR formula to give him the nutrients he needs to recover.

In just 48 hours, Gusty went from barely hanging on to eating with much more energy and showing incredible signs of improvement. While he still has some healing ahead of him, Gusty is making great progress every day.

Newborn Puppies

A stray, skinny, and pregnant dog was rescued just in time to give birth to nine puppies at the shelter. She was so malnourished that she needed help feeding all of her puppies. That is where your donations of formula came to the rescue.

The puppies are getting the nutrition they need while staying with their mama. They will all get the change to grow big and strong and find a loving family of their own.

Cokapi

A tiny, fragile kitten called Cokapi was found as a newborn with no mother, weighing 111 grams, cold, and struggling to survive. When she arrived at the rescue, the team immediately placed her in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) where every detail of her care would be critical to her survival.

Thanks to the blanket provided by The Animal Rescue Site, Cokapi was able to stay warm and comfortable during the most vulnerable days of her life. Your donations are saving lives.

Bottle Puppies

Our bottle baby puppies go through quite a bit of formula. This sweet pup's mama was attacked where she had to be hospitalized and could not nurse her baby.

She is the only pup of the litter that survived the attack by a pack of dogs - Mary's Love for Homeless Dogs Foundation.

Shelter Aid After Helene

After Hurricane Helene swept through, its impact extended far beyond downed trees and damaged homes. The storm left many animals displaced, some of them we infant animals separated from their mothers. How would we provide care for an overwhelming influx of orphaned kittens and puppies that required constant attention and care when our resources were already stretched thin. Thanks to this GreaterGood, Tift Animal Rescue was able to provide much-needed infant animal formula. This critical resource was essential for the rescue’s efforts to save the lives of these animals. The formula ensured that they had a fighting chance - Tift Animal Rescue.

Amanda

Meet Amanda. She had a rough start to life but is now a happy and healthy pup thanks to your support. Helping Paws Animal Rescue in Oklahoma was at the right place at the right time. A Yorkie was bred by a pit bull that lived in the same house. The little dog started to go into labor and was rushed to a clinic. Even though the puppy was full-term, the owners wanted her euthanized. Helping Paws Animal Recuse stepped in and saved her. She was taken in by a foster family that bottle fed her milk replacement. Baby Amanda is "living a happy well deserved life" said the rescue.

Kitten Formula

Jefferson Protection & Animal Welfare Services were super thankful for the formula they received to help a kitten that would not have otherwise survived. In the first image we see a friend of the Parish who came in with a kitten and was in tears because she wasn't sure how to help and couldn't afford a lot.

Staff was able to provide her with bottles and formula to properly feed the kitten as well teaching her how to care for the young kitten.

Bottle Babies

Vet Tech Victoria, at Jefferson Protection & Animal Welfare Services, typically cares for the "bottle babies" that come into there rescue. Bottles, blankets and formula are always needed and are put to use right away.

Thanks to the goods sent they have been able to take on more kittens and puppies. Thanks to the supplies sent they can also teach others how to feed these babies in the proper way.

Cat Tales

Carrie Wolfe from Cat Tales Inc was so excited to get supplies in the middle of kitten season. "The formula was much needed at the time." The formula was put to use right away and the kittens were so grateful.

Friday

Meet Friday, a 6 day old tabby cat who was the lone survivor of a litter that had been sadly abandoned by their mom. This little guy has survived and thrived thanks to the supplies sent by this benefit buy and other benefit buys.

McKamey Animal Center was able to provide Friday's foster mom with formula, bottles, blankets, toys and treats for this little sweetheart. MAC thanks all of you for helping Friday and the other 200 kittens they have taken in past months!

Paul Revere

Say hello to Paul Revere, a resilient survivor! Paul and four fellow kittens were discovered abandoned in a shed, their mother nowhere to be found. Olivia, the compassionate cat manager at the Rhode Island SPCA, quickly took them under her wing and arranged foster homes for these precious felines. With the help of the nourishing formula generously provided, Paul is steadily gaining the weight he needs to thrive. The shelter expresses profound gratitude not only for saving these adorable kittens but also giving them the opportunity to allocate their financial resources toward other critical projects and veterinary care. Moreover, the donation ensures that foster families have the necessary resources to provide a nurturing environment for these young animals, offering them a comfortable, cozy, and secure place to call home as they continue to grow.

Emmy Lou

Emmy Lou was brought into the Baltimore Animal Rescue & Care Shelter by animal control, severely underweight, along with her ten one-week old puppies. Due to her condition, they worried that she would not be able to produce enough milk to adequately feed her family. By providing her foster parents with formula and bottles, they were able to ensure the ongoing health of this sweet mom and her pups. Eventually, Emmy Lou and all ten of her puppies were adopted to loving families! Take a look at one of her adorable pups.
